Across three hospitals and several community-based satellite sites, the programs and services of the Scarborough Health Network (SHN) are designed for the specific needs of the Scarborough community. It offers full-service emergency departments; diagnostic, surgery, rehabilitation, and geriatric care; as well as advanced birthing centres for moms, newborns, and growing families. SHN are leaders and partners in specialty mental health, cancer, and kids’ care. Home to leading minds, their medical expertise and compassionate care are accessed from well beyond Scarborough. SHN also has Ontario’s largest regional nephrology program and regional community-based cardiovascular rehabilitation service. It is also the designated cardiac centre for the Central East region of Ontario, and the cardio-oncology clinic is an internationally recognized centre of excellence.

Oshawa Hospital is a full-service community hospital that provides high-quality and safe care to residents who live in Oshawa and Durham Region. It is also home to the world-class R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre. The Lakeridge Health Education and Research Network (LHEARN) at Oshawa Hospital which welcomes students across a broad range of health disciplines as they pursue their studies in state-of-the-art facilities under the guidance of expert instructors. Each year, more than 1,600 nursing students and 300 medical trainees receive education and training at Lakeridge Health.

A full-service community hospital, Bowmanville Hospital is home to the Regional Eye Centre providing care to residents of the Municipality of Clarington. Plans are underway to modernize and more than double the size of the Bowmanville Hospital. The Ontario government confirmed its commitment to redeveloping the hospital in the March 2019 Provincial Budget. And the Municipality of Clarington made an incredible $5-million gift toward hospital expansion. Lakeridge Health is currently working with its government partners to move the project through the multi-step hospital capital approval process.

Port Perry Hospital is a full-service community hospital that provides high quality, safe care to the residents of Port Perry and the broader community of North Durham.

Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) offers diagnostic and emergency services, and clinical programs in childbirth and children’s health, surgery, acute care medicine, cancer care, and mental health. The Stollery Family Centre for Childbirth & Children provides quality, patient-centred care for pregnant women, infants, and children up to age 18. The Surgery department at Markham Stouffville Hospital offers short-stay and same-day services in a variety of therapeutic areas including general surgery and orthopaedics.

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (HBH) cares for kids with disabilities, kids needing rehabilitation after illness or trauma, kids whose medical complexity requires a kind of care they can’t get elsewhere. Every day, the hospital’s frontline staff embrace kids with boundless potential and their families and ask “how can we help you achieve your goals?” With a mix of services not offered anywhere else in Ontario, HBH partners to provide the best interprofessional care and to prepare families for life beyond them. Through teaching and research, the hospital expands how the best care is defined and takes those new insights around the globe.
